Proportional to Body size STEP and SAG parameters are not respected

Problem

The following message is displayed:

"Proportional to Body size" STEP and SAG parameters are not respected.

After an external part import, some microscopic or empty bodies may have been created. When using a "Proportional to Body size" meshing on these bodies, ratios "size of body"/STEP and "size of body"/SAG are set to a minimum of 10nm, leading to larger meshing on those bodies.

Please review:

  • Value of SAG
  • Value of STEP
  • Bodies that may be too small or empty

Cause

After an external part import, some microscopic or empty bodies may have been created. When using a "Proportional to Body size" meshing on these bodies, ratios "size of body"/STEP and "size of body"/SAG are set to a minimum of 10nm, leading to larger meshing on those bodies.

Solution

If the solutions provided in the error message do not work, try the following solution:

In the Repair tab, click Small Faces.
Note: To find the body which size is not proportional, in the Measure tab, you can use the Measure tool.
Note: The rounded value done does not impact the simulation as the light behavior on a body with a bounding box lower than 10nm is not managed as the body is lower than the wavelength (which otherwise would create artifacts).
