Plugin - Projector Image

Description

This plugin is used to minimize the distance between the virtual image and the target image, and optimize the field curvature of the virtual image by ajusting the PGU's location in a HUD system with the Hud Optical Analysis (HOA).

It provides methods to qualify HUD’s virtual image metrics:

You can find a use case of the Projector Image here.

Projector and Projector Image

A projector can be used to display an image and can illuminate directly the windshield to simulate the Head Up Display system. The orientation and position of projector image are quite critical to obtain correct virtual image orientation and position seen from predefined eyebox.

Speos can help you build this optimized projector position and orientation using HUD Optical Analysis Plugin.

Virtual Image Distance from Target Image

Unit: millimeters (mm)

Virtual image distance From Target Image = VID - TID

Essential for Optimizing Projector Image (Example)

Defining variables:

  • Projector image center (Geometrical parameter)
  • Projector image orientation (Geometrical parameter)

Defining targets:

  • Virtual image distance (output of HUD Optical Analysis metrics)
  • Virtual image tilt (output of HUD Optical Analysis metrics)

Known Issue

Non-consistent units

Values under the Report node of a HUD Optical Analysis in the Simulation tree are expressed in meter (m).

Values in the definition of the HUD Optical Analysis and in the HTML Report are expressed in millimeter (mm).
