TrueFreeForm™

This feature is only available in the Premium and Enterprise editions of Ansys Zemax OpticStudio.

The TrueFreeForm™ surface type defines a freeform surface as a combination of Biconic terms, Even asphere terms, Extended Polynomial terms, and Zernike Standard Sag terms on top of a grid of sag points. This surface type will allow users to add any of these terms to an already defined surface (via the conversion tool "Make TrueFreeForm™") and optimize specific sections in the grid of sag points via the Grid Point Selector tool.

PARAMETER DEFINITIONS FOR TRUEFREEFORM™ SURFACES

Parameter # Definition
0 # Variable Points. This is the number of Grid Sag points set to be variable by the Grid Point Selector tool
1 X Radius
2 X Conic
3-10 Even Asphere terms
11 Zernike decenter X in lens units
12 Zernike decenter Y in lens units
13 Maximum Zernike Terms
14 Maximum Polynomial Terms
15 Normalization Radius
16 - 254 Zernike & Polynomial Terms, with Zernike terms appearing first

The "Maximum term number" is used to specify the maximum Zernike or polynomial term to be used in calculating the surface sag. This number is provided to speed the ray tracing calculation, as terms beyond this number are ignored.
