Message Boxes
For some messages that require a user choice (e.g. Yes/No, Retry/Cancel), this preference option allows OpticStudio to remember your selection and always choose that selection by default in the future. For example, suppose that you were to enter a name into the Material column of the Lens Data Editor for a material that is not contained with any of the catalogs listed under the "Catalogs To Use" section of the System Explorer. For this case, a 'Don't ask me again' option is provided in the dialog that would pop-up to warn you of the problem:

If you select 'Don't ask me again' and click 'Yes', then the next time you enter a name into the Material column of the Lens Data Editor of a material from a catalog that is not one of those listed under the "Catalogs To Use" section of the System Explorer, the catalog that does contain the material will automatically be added to the "Catalogs To Use" section of the System Explorer without any further input on your end.
It is important to realize that only the dialog response (e.g. 'Yes') is remembered, not the outcome of the selection. In other words, in the above example, the first catalog that contains the material will be automatically selected in future cases, not necessarily the catalog from the original message in which you originally said 'Yes'.
These settings can be viewed and changed under Preferences > Message Boxes:

Note that the Sample Message is only provided as a hint, and details within the message are not necessarily applicable to your current system.
