Additional Notes

  • Overlay series are drawn 50% thinner than native ones by default. This can be customized in the Series Settings tab of the Overlay Series dialog.
  • When overlay series are present in a plot, the Overlay Series button on the toolbar is highlighted:
  • For secondary axis overlay series, the Y2 axis can only have a single type of unit associated with it. Selecting a series with incompatible units to plot on a secondary Y-axis will cause any existing series on the secondary Y-axis to be removed.
  • When a plot with overlay series is open during a tolerancing calculation with Monte Carlo overlay turned on, the regular overlay series will be removed and only the series native to the analysis window will have Monte Carlo overlays applied.
  • If a window that formerly had regular overlay series present but was then overlaid with Monte Carlo sample series is unlocked, the regular overlay series will return to the plot. If the source window for the regular overlay series is still locked, the data that will display is from the last Monte Carlo sample. To get the nominal overlay data to return, the source window for the overlay data needs to be unlocked and updated, then the window with the overlay will need to be updated.
  • During Slider or Visual Optimizer updates, overlay series may not update in synch with the series data native to the analysis window. This is because different analyses run at different speeds and if the analysis data for overlay is not available when a window updates, the series will be an empty data set. Once the source window for the overlay data has updated, you can manually refresh the target window for the overlay data and the updated data will show correctly.
