Running a synchronization job

Synchronization jobs can either be published immediately, or on a regular schedule.

When previously-published records are synchronized, the data in Granta MI takes priority over the data in Teamcenter. If any changes have been made to records in Teamcenter, these will be overwritten with the current Granta MI data.

When you are viewing (but not editing) a synchronization job, the Synchronize tab shows the options that are currently specified for synchronization, and you can click Synchronize now to update the records immediately.
Note: When you are editing the synchronization job, you will see all the available options for synchronization. However, you cannot run the synchronization job until you save it, so you will not see the Synchronize now option. In addition, if the synchronization job is checked out for editing by another person, it cannot be synchronized.

Automatic synchronization is specified as a recurring pattern over the course of a week. You can specify the days of the week on which you want synchronization to occur, and how frequently you want this pattern to recur - every week, or at intervals of 2 or more weeks.

To create an automatic synchronization schedule:
  1. Open a synchronization job and ensure that it is editable.
  2. On the Synchronize tab, enter the schedule that will be used for the synchronization:
    1. Enter a date and time for the Start time.
These must be specified in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
    2. Specify the days of the week on which you want synchronization to occur.
Automatic synchronization will occur on the first specified weekday after the starting date you specified, and at the time of day you specified.
    3. In Every ... weeks, enter the number to specify how frequently you want this pattern to recur.
  3. Save your changes.
  4. To publish the data immediately, click Synchronize now.
Tip: If you cannot see Synchronize now, check that the synchronization job has been saved, and is not currently checked out for editing.
After running a synchronization job, you can view the Logs tab to see a log file for the most recent synchronization, or the history of the synchronization job itself (including details of all edits to the job and number of times it has run).
