Showing additional data for Granta MI records

You can configure MI Materials Gateway to show additional columns of attribute data, or information about links to other records. These can be shown in Search results, Favorites, and other lists of records. To do this, you need to define column configurations and (optionally) custom formatters.

Prerequisites:

Before you start, ensure that each Granta MI attribute and record link group that you want to use is identified by a standard name in your Granta MI system. You can use MI Admin to define standard names, as described in Configuring standard names.

Note: Attribute values are not automatically written to the host application on assignment.
If you would like to write data to either host parts, or host material attributes, see:
To show additional columns:
  1. Optional: If you want to apply formatting to columns, create custom formatters to define the conditional formatting to be applied to values in columns.
  2. Create column configurations to define lists of additional columns.
For each column in the list, the definition specifies:
    • the Granta MI attribute, or record link group, that you want to display.
    • (Optionally) a format that will be applied to the column.
    • (Optionally) a filter that will display the column for a specified type of record only (Material, Process, Surface Treatment, or Color).
    See Defining a column configuration.
  3. Enable the additional columns in the gateway.config file.

In the <HostConfiguration> section for each host application, enable a host configuration option for each UI location, that specifies the list of columns to be displayed in that location (for example, mycolumns). See Configure MI Materials Gateway to display the additional columns.
