Deployment methods
MI Materials Gateway is installed on the same machine as the host CAD, CAE, or PLM application. Once it is installed, it runs as a plug-in or add-in within the host application.
Depending on your existing CAD, CAE, or PLM system configuration, you can deploy and install MI Materials Gateway on your host system in any of the following ways.
- Local installation
- In configurations where the host client application is installed on users’ own machines, Gateway can be installed on the same machine by running the Setup Manager within the Gateway distribution package.
- Central deployment
- In configurations where the host client installation on the user’s machine is deployed centrally from a network location (for example, via a script), the Gateway software components can be deployed to the user’s machine in the same way.
- Central installation
- In configurations where add-ins for the host application are installed and managed in a central location on the network, Gateway can be installed in this central location either by running the Setup Manager or installation script on the host application server (in the same way as for a local installation), or by deploying the software component files to the host application server (in the same way as for central deployment).
Local installation is typical for a small-scale trial installation, whereas central deployment and central installation are common in large-scale enterprise installations.
