MaterialUniverse
Updates to the MaterialUniverse data table, part of the Core Materials data (always available in Granta Selector).
Complete and comparable data for over 4000
commercially-available engineering materials, providing physical, cost,
mechanical, thermal, electrical, optical, durability, environmental data,
plus extensive data on over 240 processes.
Note: ANSYS, Inc. provides no warranty for this
data.
- New or updated data
- This release sees the addition of 50 new records for materials used for
electromagnetic applications, including EMI shielding, encapsulants in
semiconductor packaging and as thermal interface materials. The records include
identification, mechanical, thermal, electrical, chemical, sustainability and
restricted substances attributes. New in this release:
- 35 thermoplastics, covering ABS, ABS+PC, PA66, PC, PEEK, PEI, POM and PPS resins.
- 14 thermosets, covering Epoxy and PUR resins, both standard and molding compounds.
- 1 silicone thermoset elastomer.
- Fillers across the new records include carbon fibers, nickel-coated carbon fibers and stainless steel fibers, and, for the first time in the MaterialUniverse database, silver powder, carbon nanotubes and glass and stainless steel fibers.
- Other changes
-
- The latest geoeconomic data added for the Abundance and Production attributes across 2500 metals.
- New gigacasting process added to ProcessUniverse.
- Attributes notes are updated to provide more clarity on boundaries of
sustainability data for the following attributes:
- Climate change (CO2-eq) (virgin grade production)
- Climate change (CO2-eq) (typical grade production)
- Embodied energy (virgin grade production)
- Embodied energy (typical grade production)
