Creo Parametric

In Creo Parametric, you can use MI Materials Gateway to assign materials to assemblies and part models. The assignments are made to either bodies (if assignment to bodies is enabled in Creo) or parts.

You can start MI Materials Gateway from Creo Parametric in

two different ways. These give you access to different features, and a different view in the Assignments panel (in the lower half of the MI Materials Gateway window).

  • To view your currently active assembly, select MI Materials Gateway in the main Creo toolbar, and then click MI Materials Gateway in the ribbon.
This enables you to view the full assembly and its assignments as a hierarchical structure, export it as a Bill of Materials file, and analyze it using BoM Analyzer (if Restricted Substances or Sustainability analysis is enabled on your system).
Tip: To focus on an individual sub-assembly, part, or body within the BoM, you can right-click it in the Assignments panel and select Activate component. (This may be useful if you want to analyze a single component in BoM Analyzer.) To return to the full assembly, right-click and select Activate root component.
  • To view a selection of parts, right-click in the Creo Parametric model and select MI Materials Gateway.

Part view enables you to focus on selected parts by navigating your assembly in Creo. (This may be useful when working with very large BoMs.) However, you can't export assignments to a file, or analyze them in BoM Analyzer.

Tip: To view a different part in MI Materials Gateway, select it in Creo and click Refresh to update the Assignments panel.
  • To switch between full assembly and part view, click MI Materials Gateway in the main ribbon, or the right-click menu, and then click Refresh.

You can use MI Materials Gateway to find and assign materials from your Granta MI database.
