Finding materials data

To find a material in your Granta MI database, you can either browse the database to explore families of related materials, or search to find materials by name, or by their engineering or environmental properties.

Note: In Gateways for Abaqus/CAE, Ansys Electronics Desktop, and Ansys Workbench (on Windows): If you have a Bill of Materials (BoM) file containing CAD assignments (for example, one that has been exported from a CAD or PLM system using MI Materials Gateway), you can also view a list of the materials specified in the BoM file, and use this to find materials data to import.

In Gateways for Creo, NX, Teamcenter, and Windchill: If your system supports assignment of processes, surface treatments, or colors, you can browse for these in the same way as for materials. Alternatively, right-click a material and select View related to find processes, surface treatments, or colors that are compatible with it.

Materials, processes, surface treatments, and colors can be saved to your favorites, which you can access in both MI Materials Gateway and MI Explore.

To see more information about a material, process, surface treatment, or color, you can right-click to view a datasheet that shows its properties (and its version, if your database is version-controlled).
