By default, application help for MI Viewer is online, ensuring that users have the latest
content, updated as soon as it is available. If needed, you can download an installable
version of the help, host it locally, and configure MI Viewer to access this instead of the
standard online help.
Where Granta MI is used in an air-gapped environment and users are unable to access
Ansys online help, MI Viewer can be configured to use a local offline version of the
application help.-
Download the Granta MI Enterprise installable help package from the Ansys
Customer Portal documentation downloads page: https://download.ansys.com/Product%20Documentation.
-
Unzip the downloaded package.
This contains 2 further zip files: MI_Viewer_Help.zip,
which contains the installable MI Viewer help files, and a Python Scripting
Toolkit documentation zip.
-
Unzip the MI_Viewer_Help.zip file.
This contains a folder called MI_Viewer_Help, which
contains 3 more folders (css, granta,
media).
-
Upload the MI_Viewer_Help folder to your server or company
intranet.
-
Configure the MI Viewer application to access your local help:
-
In MI Viewer, click Admin in the toolbar and
scroll down the General page to the Help Preferences
section.
-
Select the Use this local help option, and enter
the URL for your locally-hosted help site, for example:
https://my.server.name/MI_Viewer_Help
-
Save your changes.
You can also configure this setting in the MI Viewer Configuration
tool.
To ensure that users have access to up-to-date information on MI Viewer features, you will need
to download and install the latest version of the help after upgrading to a new
Granta MI release. Your existing MI Viewer help configuration settings will be
preserved through an upgrade, so you won’t need to reconfigure the help preference
option when you upgrade your MI Viewer software.
