Software components

The following Elastic Stack log monitoring and collection components are required for Granta MI log aggregation.

Elasticsearch	Elasticsearch is the central component of the Elastic Stack, storing and indexing log data.
Kibana	Kibana is a visualization and reporting tool, where authorized users can view and search all of the log data stored in Elasticsearch.
Filebeat	Installed as an agent on each node in the Granta MI cluster, Filebeat monitors MI log files located the Granta MI $PROGRAMDATA% folders, collects log events, and ships them to Elasticsearch.

Elasticsearch and Kibana must be downloaded from the elastic website and installed on a dedicated Elasticsearch server. You cannot use the same Elasticsearch instance for Granta MI search and indexing and for log aggregation.

Filebeat for Granta MI log aggregation is delivered as the MI Log File Collector, an installation and configuration 'wrapper' that ensures Filebeat is installed on your MI application server with the correct configuration settings for MI log aggregation. An MSI installer for MI Log File Collector is included in the main Granta MI installation package, in the InstallationManager\MILogFileCollector folder.
