Database currency

Currency values are stored in the Granta MI base currency. You can choose the Database currency, and data stored in the system base currency (USD), will be converted using the exchange rates specified in the currency definition.

The Database currency may be used as a variable in database Unit definitions, for example, currency/kg, currency/lb, currency/hr; see Units and Unit Systems.

A blank Granta MI database is created with a default Database currency, but this can be changed prior to adding data.
Important: Ansys strongly recommends that you do not change the Database currency in a database that already contains currency data. If you do, any existing currency data values that use a unit that refers to 'currency' (for example, currency/kg) will not be converted to the new database currency but will simply be assigned the new unit, for example, 7 USD/kg will simply become 7 GBP/kg.
Note: In MI Viewer, users can choose the currency they want to work in, which may be different from the database currency (Settings > Options > Application Options > Currency; changing the currency in the application has no effect on the currency in which the data is stored.
