Refreshing the local data cache

Data retrieved from Granta MI is cached locally, and is refreshed each time you start Windows, or when you start the Gateway core service. (Note that closing and reopening the Gateway window does not refresh the data cache.)

Optionally, your Gateway administrator may have enabled an automatic refresh of the data cache each night (at midnight local time). However, the automatic update cannot happen if your machine is in Power Save mode. If you leave your computer switched on overnight, you may want to turn off Power Save mode to ensure that automatic updates can take place.

Note: If you are working in a version-controlled database, ensure that you update the local data cache whenever updates have been made to records in the database. If you don't do this, search results may not include all records, and Gateway may assign or import the cached version of a record rather than the latest version.
You can update the local data cache manually at any time:
  1. In the navigation bar, select Settings > Preferences.
  2. Click Update cached data. (For more details, see Viewing and updating your settings.)
