Managing imported material cards

All the material cards that have been imported from Granta MI are displayed in the Imported material cards panel. You can use this list to review your imported material cards, update them (if your Granta MI database is version-controlled), or remove them.

Each row of the list shows a summary of a material card. To see more information about a material, right-click it and select View a datasheet.
Note: If you are working in ANSA, the list only shows material cards that are compatible with your current finite element solver.
Table 1. Material card information
Column name What it shows Available in
Engineering Data name The name of the imported material card as it appears in the Material Models list in the Engineering Data component in Ansys Workbench.
Note: This information is only displayed in MI Materials Gateway for Version 2023 R1 and later of Ansys Workbench
Ansys Workbench only
Material The name of the material used to generate the CAE material model data on the card.
Model type The name of the model definition (for example, 'Simple failure') used to generate the CAE material model data on the card.
Database Table The name of the Granta MI database, and the table in that database, that the material data is from.
Parameters

For a CAE material model that depends on one or more parameters (for example, Temperature for a temperature-dependent model): the parameter values that have been used to generate the CAE material model data on the card.

Note: The ability to specify parameter values for models is an optional feature, and may not be available on your system.
Simulation record

In Granta MI systems that support simulation records and models: The name of the simulation record used to generate the simulation model data on the material card.

Note: This feature is only available in MI Materials Gateways for Version 2023 R1 and later of Ansys Workbench, and is an optional feature that may not be available on your system.
Ansys Workbench only
Simulation model type The name of the model definition (for example, 'Isotropic, temperature-dependent') used to generate the imported simulation model data. Ansys Workbench only
Simulation model parameters For a simulation model that depends on one or more parameters (for example, Temperature for a temperature-dependent model): the parameter values that have been used to generate the imported simulation model data. Ansys Workbench only
Table 2. Material Card status indication
Status Meaning
Missing This material or model definition can no longer be found in your Granta MI database (for example, because it has been deleted or withdrawn). Where possible, its name is shown to help you find a suitable replacement.
Out-of-date A newer version of this material or model definition is available in the Granta MI database. You can right-click to update the imported model.
CAD data only

In MI Materials Gateway for Ansys Workbench: This material has been imported from NX or Creo via the Workbench Associative Interface, and does not yet have data for simulation.

You can either right-click to import a CAE material model or simulation model to this material only, or click to import default simulation data to all materials.

If your Granta MI database is version-controlled, then any data that has a newer version available in the database is marked as out-of-date . For imported CAE material models, a in the Model type column indicates that there is a new version of the model definition, and a in the Material column indicates that there is a new version of the material.

To update a material model, right-click in the Material column and select Update this data.

This will re-import the material model using the latest versions of both the material and the model definition, replacing the previously-imported data. If the model requires parameter values, the previous values will be used again wherever possible.
