In-Place Editing of Datasets
IcepakFEA boundary, excitation, or solution setup dialog boxes that support datasets for temperature-dependent or time-varying parameters also support in-place editing of the datasets. That is, when an existing dataset has been referenced in an applicable parameter's text box, an Edit Dataset button is provided to open the dataset editor directly. You need not separately access the Design Datasets command from the menu bar and select and edit the dataset from there.
Typically, a parameter text box has a Units drop-down menu to its right. However, when you specify a dataset reference in an applicable text box, the Units drop-down menu becomes an Edit Dataset button. Specification of the units within the dialog box is no longer applicable because the units of a dataset's X and Y values are specified as part of the dataset definition.

The following figure compares the Convection dialog box when a simple numeric Film Coefficient value is specified versus the same dialog box when a dataset is referenced for a time-varying coefficient. This dialog box is a typical example of how the units selector is replaced by the Edit Dataset button when applicable:

For applicable parameters, as you begin to type a function name or dataset name, you will be presented with a list of functions and existing dataset names matching the characters typed thus far. You can select from the list and do not have to type the remainder manually, as demonstrated in the following figure:
