Datasets in IcepakFEA Designs
You can use datasets in certain IcepakFEA solution types to specify the following temperature-dependent or time-varying parameters:
- Thermal Solutions, Steady-State or Transient (Temperature-Dependent Parameters):
- Convection Boundary – Film Coefficient
- Heat Flux Excitation – Total Power or Surface Flux
- Heat Generation Excitation – Total Power
- Transient Thermal Solutions (Time-Varying Parameters):
- Convection Boundary – Film Coefficient
- Convection Boundary – Reference Temperature
- Temperature Boundary - Temperature
- Heat Flux Excitation – Total Power or Surface Flux
- Heat Generation Excitation
- Heat Generation Excitation – Total Power
- Solution Setup (Thermal) – Time Step
- Solution Setup (Thermal) – Save Fields
- Structural Solutions (Temperature-Dependent Parameters):
- Material Properties – Young's Modulus, Poisson's Ratio, Mass Density, Coefficient of Thermal Expansion
All of the preceding thermal solution applications of datasets require that you define Design datasets. Temperature-dependent structural material properties are the exception to this rule. Material definitions are saved at the project level. When you create a thermal modifier for a material property and base it on a dataset, a Project dataset is created. You can recognize a project dataset by the dollar sign ($) used for the first character of its name (such as "$ds1").
