Icepak Solve Setup Defaults

The Icepak Solve Setup Defaults drop-down list contains options that automatically define solution settings based on the selected simulation type.

The following sections detail which settings are defined for each simulation type.

Forced Convection

Select Forced Convection Defaults if your simulation includes forced convection, in which fluid moves within the computational domain by a source (for example, a fan). The following solution settings are defined as forced convection defaults.

Problem Types	Temperature and Flow enabled
Radiation Model	Off
Under-relaxation	Pressure = 0.3 and Momentum = 0.7
Discretization Scheme	Pressure = Standard and Momentum = First

Gravity	Disabled
Solve Flow and Energy Equations Separately	Enabled

Linear Solver Options: Temperature	Termination Criterion = 1e-06 and Residual Reduction Tolerance = 1e-06

Natural Convection

Select Natural Convection Defaults if your simulation includes natural convection, in which fluid moves within the computational domain by changes in the density of the fluid due to variations in temperature. The following solution settings are defined as natural convection defaults.

Include Gravity	Enabled
Under-relaxation	Pressure = 0.7 and Momentum = 0.3
Discretization Scheme	Pressure = Standard and Momentum = First
Initial Conditions: X, Y, or Z Velocity	-/+ 1e-4 depending on the direction of the Gravity Vector defined in the Design Settings
Radiation Model	Discrete Ordinates enabled
Flow Iterations per Radiation Iteration	10
Angular Discretization Settings	2

Mixed Convection

Select Mixed Convection Defaults if your simulation includes forced convention and natural convection. The following solution settings are defined as mixed convection defaults.

Maximum Number of Iterations	100
Problem Types	Temperature and Flow enabled
Include Gravity	Enabled
Solve Flow and Energy Equations Separately	Disabled
Under-relaxation	Pressure = 0.7 and Momentum = 0.3
Discretization Scheme	Pressure = Standard and Momentum = First
Initial Conditions: X, Y, or Z Velocity	-/+ 1e-4 depending on the direction of the Gravity Vector defined in the Design Settings
Radiation Model	Discrete Ordinates enabled
Flow Iterations per Radiation Iteration	10
Angular Discretization Settings	2

Conduction Only

Select Conduction Only Defaults if your simulation includes only temperature analysis. The following solution settings are defined as conduction only defaults.

Problem Types	Temperature enabled and Flow disabled
Maximum Number of Iterations	40
Convergence	Energy = 1e-12
Linear Solver Options: Temperature	Termination Criterion = 1e-06 and Residual Reduction Tolerance = 1e-06

LTI ROM

Select LTI ROM Defaults if your transient simulation includes a parametric analysis intended for LTI ROM export. The following solution settings are defined as LTI ROM defaults.

Transient Setup	Start = 0, Stop = 10000, Time Step = Advanced (see Transient Variation below), and Iterations/Time Step = 20
Transient Variation	Variation function = Piecewise Constant, S0 =1, and Variation = dataset (see dataset values below)
