Output Characteristic

In the Output Characteristics dialog box, each tab corresponds to one output characteristic curve, that is, Ic=f(Vce) at a specific temperature. These characteristics are obtained from the output characteristic curves supplied by the manufacturer as illustrated in the example characteristic shown below.

The Full Saturated Branch output characteristic under nominal junction temperature is mandatory, while the characteristic at a different temperature is used to calculate correction coefficients when the junction temperature of the device is different from the nominal temperature. If the data is available, use the value of the gate voltage which corresponds to the one used in the on-switch switching measurements (Vge on from the Nominal Working Point Values dialog box).

The Semi Saturated Branch output data calculates correction coefficients for the output when not fully voltage saturated. The best choice for this data is a characteristic showing some flattening of the output curve as shown above for the VGE=8Vcase at 25oC. Select Not Used option from the drop-down list for any unavailable data items. The semi-saturated branch is always measured at a lower value of VGE than the fully saturated branch.
