Navigating the Modeling Workspace
The following commands allow users to control their view of the design in the Modeling workspace.
Refer to Modeling Workspace Shortcuts for a list of navigation shortcut key combinations that summarize and supplement this topic.
Zooming
Zoom options allow users to magnify or shrink the view of the design.
Zooming In
To zoom in on the design in the Modeling workspace, do one of the following:
- Spin the mouse wheel away from the user.
- Click the View tab. From the View area, click the magnifying glass with a "+" in the lens. The mouse pointer changes to a magnifying
glass.
- Click in the Modelingworkspace to start selecting the area to zoom in on.
- Drag the mouse across the zoom area.
- Click to stop selecting the zoom area.
Zooming Out
To zoom out from the design in the Modeling workspace, do one of the following:
- Spin the mouse wheel toward the user.
- Click the View tab. From the View area, click the magnifying glass with a "-" in the lens. The mouse pointer changes to a magnifying
glass.
- Click in the Modelingworkspace to start selecting the area to zoom out from.
- Drag the mouse across the zoom area.
- Click to stop selecting the zoom area.
Rotating the Model
To move the design around a center point and rotate the Modeling workspace, do one of the following:
- Click the View tab. From the View area, click the circling arrows.
- Hold down the center mouse button, then click+drag the mouse over the Modeling workspace.
- Hold Alt, then click+drag
the mouse over the Modeling workspace.
Note:
Linux users, press Ctrl+Alt.
Panning Across the Design
Panning (moving the project up, down, left, or right) is the default click+drag action in SIwave. To return to panning mode after entering another mode, do one of the following:
- Click the View tab. From the View area, click the hand.
- Hold Shift, then click+drag the mouse over the Modeling workspace.
Fitting All Components
By default, SIwave fits the entire design in the Modeling workspace. To return to this view after zooming in/out, use the Fit All option one of two ways:
- Click the View tab. From the View area, click the magnifying glass with four out-facing arrows in the lens.
- Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+D.
To improve response time when SIwave is streaming over a remote desktop:
- Informational tool tips will not appear.
- Dynamic zoom is deactivated.
- Faster transformation is activated.
Returning to the Default View
By default, SIwave displays a top-down view of the design. To return to the top-down view, do one of the following:
- Click the View tab. From the View area, click the eye adjacent to a down-facing arrow.
- Hold Alt, then double-click the Top of the Modeling workspace. Refer to Changing the Model View with Alt+Double-Click Areas.
To lock the top-down view:
- Click the View tab. From the View area, check the Lock Top View box.
When the top-down view is locked, the design can only be rotated by its z-axis.
