Editing the Definition of a Layout Component

The step-by-step wizard for adding a layout component is also used for editing them. The available options and the sequence in which they are presented are the same when editing an existing component as it is for creating a new component.

  1. Under 3D Components in the Project Manager, right-click the <Layout_Component_Name> and choose Edit Definition.

    2. The General step of the Browse Layout Component wizard appears.

  2. Progress through the General, Coordinate System, Variable Mapping, and Parameters steps of the layout definition process as detailed in the Adding a Layout Component topic.
  3. Click Finish when you are done editing the layout component.

    4. If you selected a new source file or folder for the layout component, a new layout component is added under Definitions > Components in the Project Manager. Additionally, the layout component in the Modeler window is regenerated.

    Note: If the component's visualization options were customized in the Maxwell design, they will be reset to their default configuration whenever the layout component is regenerated. When this occurs, restore your preferred visualization options.
