AC Conduction Theory
The AC conduction field simulator solves for F in the following equation:
Ñ·[sE + jweÑF(x,y)] = 0
where
- F(x,y) is the magnitude and phase of the electric potential at each value of x and y,
- w is the angular frequency at which the potential is oscillating,
- s is the conductivity, and
- e is the permittivity.
The above equation is derived from Ñ·(J + jwD) = 0
where
- J is the current density, sE,
- D is the electric flux density, eE, and
- E is the electric field, -ÑF.
Complex quantities are represented using phasor notation.
