Setting up an Icepak Design

To set up an Icepak design, follow this general procedure. After you insert a design, you do not need to perform the intermediate steps sequentially, but you must complete them before you generate a solution.

Insert an Icepak design into a project.

  1. Select the solution type.
  2. Draw the model geometry, create native components, and assign material characteristics to objects.
  3. Assign thermal boundary conditions, which specify the field behavior at the edges of the problem region and object interfaces.
  4. Define global mesh settings, assign mesh regions, and generate a mesh.
  5. Specify how Icepak will compute the solution.
  6. (Optional) Set up any Optimetrics you want to run.
  7. Run the simulation.
  8. View solution results, post-process results, and view reports.
Note:

After a period of idleness of 10 minutes, Icepak gives up its license. A renewal of activity automatically requests a license. Such idle notifications do not occur during solves.
