Laminate Stackup

In a laminate stackup, all layers physically stack one another with no overlap on the Z-axis. Laminate layers extend over the entire design space in the X-axis and Y-axis. Laminate stackups are the default type of stackup.

With a laminate stackups, all controls appear on a single tab of the Edit Layers window. Options are available in the Stackup and Layers menus but not the Zone menu. When a new layer is created, the window automatically offers the opposite type of layer from what is highlighted in the Grid Control pane (e.g., a new signal layer if a dielectric layer is highlighted).

The lower and upper elevation columns are not visible by default but can be activated by the user. The thickness of layers may be edited but not the lower elevation. Layers may be reordered by dragging a layer to a new position in the Grid Control. See Elevation in Laminate and Multizone Stackups.

When visible, a laminate stackup layer has its Dielectric Fill specified for signal layers.
