Coupling SIwave DC IR Loss

Note: Use of Ansys Cloud Direct services for models containing SIwave DC IR loss coupling is currently not supported.

In HFSS 3D Layout, you can add an SIwave solution setup to solve for voltage drop across a power plane (see SIwave Solution Setup for HFSS 3D Layout). In an Icepak design, you can link a PCB component to the SIwave solution setup to include the power dissipation data in the Icepak simulation.

The EM loss maps for a coupled solution setup can be displayed in the 3D Modeler window. The maps can be displayed prior to running the coupled analysis or after analyzing the solution setup. See Displaying DC IR Loss for more information.

The losses applied to the PCB component are shown in the Solutions dialog box. For one-way coupling only, if the design includes multiple instances of the PCB component, the losses are applied to each instance.
