Stopping a Virtual Desktop

When a virtual desktop is in the Running state, it is incurring charges. When a virtual desktop is not being used, it should be stopped.

  1. Go to the project space containing the Running virtual desktop.

  2. In the virtual desktop table row, click Stop. (Note that you must have the Stop permission in the project space.)

Once stopped, the virtual desktop moves into the Stopped state.

Note: Shutting down a Windows virtual desktop using Start > Power > Shut Down on the virtual desktop should be avoided as the status of the virtual desktop will not be properly updated in Ansys Gateway powered by AWS. Always use the Stop action as described above.
