Run a Linux LS-DYNA Virtual Desktop Using GNOME Desktop
GNOME Desktop is available if LS-PrePost is installed on the virtual desktop or if the GNOME Desktop application was explicitly selected for installation when the virtual desktop was created. You can also add GNOME Desktop to an existing virtual desktop (see Adding Applications to a Virtual Machine in the User's Guide).
When the virtual desktop is in the Running state, ensure that the drop-down next to the Connect button has Remote Desktop selected.
-
Click Connect.
-
If you are prompted for a password, set the drop-down to SSH and click Connect. It will provide you with the password to use on the remote desktop. Alternatively, you can use this SSH information to connect to the machine using SSH, but you will not be able to use LS-PrePost.
-
On the GNOME Desktop, open a terminal.
LS-DYNA, LS-PrePost, and MPI are available in the root directory. For example:
LS-DYNA: /LSDYNA-R14.1.0
LS-PrePost: /LSPREPOST/lsprepost4.10.6/lspp410
IntelMPI: /MPI_commonfiles/MPI/Intel/2018.3.222/linx64/bin/mpirun
Note: LS-PrePost can be accessed anywhere with alias lsprepost or lspp. Environments and licensing are set. MPI can be called by typing mpirun.-
Add local LS-DYNA input files to the Linux virtual machine using scp. Execute LS-DYNA on the command line.
mpirun -np <cores> /LSDYNA/mpp-dyna/sse2/mpp/lsdyna_sp_mpp_impi2018_sse2.e i=input.k
