Hotfix

  • A solution has been implemented to address Linux VM provisioning delays and application installation failures in the Asia-Pacific region. (1097336)

Background: When CentOS reached End of Life at the end of June, the official distributed network of RPM repositories was deprecated. In response, Ansys switched to using one of the main public repositories provided by the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN).

While this has been a practical stop-gap measure for Ansys customers located in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, latency and bandwidth constraints caused Linux VM provisioning delays and application installation failures for customers in Asia-Pacific countries.

Solution: A new set of mirrors is being used to provide geographically distributed CentOS repositories as well as alternates in case some repositories become unavailable.

    Note:
    • If your company is running a restrictive firewall you should allowlist the addresses of the new mirrors. See Domains Required for Firewall Allowlist in the Administration Guide.
    • The hotfix applies only to new virtual machines (VMs) that you create. VMs created before the hotfix deployment should be recreated if possible. Alternatively, you can apply a patch to an existing VM by installing the Ansys Linux Patch: CentOS repositories update application on the VM.
  • An update has been made to address an issue that was causing the deletion of project spaces to fail in some cases. (1095485)
  • An update has been made to address issues experienced with Express setup when choosing to allow Ansys Gateway powered by AWS to create VPCs on your behalf or to use existing VPCs. Previously in this scenario, the setup failed at the 'Initializing hardware resources' stage. (1093804)
