Fees and Billing
The Ansys Gateway powered by AWS platform is deployed as a service that allows you to deploy AWS hardware in your own AWS account.
When you deploy AWS hardware using Ansys Gateway powered by AWS, your invoice from AWS includes a line item for AWS hardware as well as a line item for utilizing the services of Ansys Gateway powered by AWS.
The following fees are charged for using Ansys Gateway powered by AWS:
- One-time platform fee
- Physical core hour usage
These fees do NOT include AWS hardware fees or any other fees that AWS charges for the infrastructure that is deployed via Ansys Gateway powered by AWS (such as fees for data transfer and storage).
Fees and billing practices are described below.
One-Time Platform Fee
As of February 10, 2025, new subscribers must pay a one-time platform fee to use Ansys Gateway powered by AWS.
If you are using a free trial of Ansys Gateway powered by AWS, the one-time platform fee will be charged once the free trial period ends.
Physical Core Hour Usage
Physical core hour usage refers to the physical cores used per hour when machines are deployed to AWS via Ansys Gateway powered by AWS.
There is no charge for physical core hour usage during the free trial period. When the trial period ends, there continues to be no charge for core hour usage for one year past the trial end date. After that one-year period, you will start to be charged for physical core hour usage.
Example of how core hour billing works: If you were to deploy a Linux instance of g5.4xlarge, which has 8 physical cores and NVIDIA A10 GPU, and you were to run it for an hour, you would be charged the following at the sample prices indicated:
Item | Price* | Billing charge for one hour of usage |
---|---|---|
AWS hardware cost | $1.64 per hour | $1.64 |
Ansys Gateway powered by AWS core hour usage | $0.01 per core per hour | $0.08 |
* Prices are for illustrative purposes only. For actual hardware pricing based on the region selected, refer to the AWS website. For actual core hour pricing, refer to the marketplace listing.
Free Trials
All new subscribers receive a 30-day free trial of Ansys Gateway powered by AWS.
The free trial starts once an administrator has completed the Ansys Gateway powered by AWS setup and added their first availability zone on the page.
During the free trial period, you are not charged for using Ansys Gateway powered by AWS. You only pay for the AWS hardware you use.
When the free trial period ends, the one-time platform fee will be charged automatically. There will continue to be no charge for physical core hour usage for one year past the trial end date. See Switching from Free to Paid Usage.
Switching from Free to Paid Usage
To ensure a seamless transition from a free trial to paid usage with no interruption in service, the one-time platform fee is charged automatically as soon as the trial ends (provided that you have not cancelled your subscription before the trial end date).
When the trial period ends, there continues to be no charge for physical core hour usage for one year past the trial end date. After that one-year period, you will start to be charged for physical core hour usage.
AWS Hardware Costs
Whether you are using Ansys Gateway powered by AWS on a trial or paid basis, usage of AWS hardware has a separate cost that is billed to your AWS account.
There may also be other fees that AWS charges for the infrastructure that is deployed via Ansys Gateway powered by AWS (such as fees for data transfer and storage).
