Viewing OS Images

Ansys provides default Windows and Linux operating system (OS) images for installation on virtual machines.

Additional OS images may be available if users have converted virtual desktops to OS images or have created HPC clusters in 24R1 project spaces. When an HPC cluster is created, a dummy virtual machine is created where the application packages for the cluster are installed. An OS image is created from the dummy virtual machine, which is then used to create the cluster. Such images are subsequently used when new HPC clusters are created in the same project space, reducing cluster creation time.

To view a list of the OS images available in Ansys Gateway powered by AWS:

  1. On the main toolbar, click to access the Administration page.
  2. In the navigation pane, select Images.

The list on the Images page includes the default Windows and Linux OS images provided by Ansys and any OS images that have been generated by converting virtual desktops to OS images or creating HPC clusters in 24R1 project spaces.

To display additional information about images, such as installed drivers or applications, click Edit columns and enable the columns you want to display in the table. You can also disable selected columns to simplify the table display.
