Prerequisites for Setup

  • Ensure that you have reviewed Roles and Permissions Required for IT Administrators when Setting Up Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure. Although the setup process can be performed by multiple users, each step of the process has minimum Azure role requirements.

One particular step, "Grant access", must be completed by a user with a Microsoft Entra user account with the Global Administrator or Privileged Role Administrator role to establish a trust relationship between the company's Entra and Ansys Entra. If a non-corporate Microsoft Entra is used, you must create a temporary user account with user type "member" and use that account for the Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure setup process.

  • The person(s) performing the setup must have an Ansys ID. For more information about Ansys ID see the Ansys Account Management guide or the Ansys Sign-In Help.

The domain of the Ansys ID email address (for example, company.com) should be the primary domain for which you want to configure access to Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure. This will allow users with that domain in their Ansys ID email address to access the tenant when they sign in to Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure.

  • The setup process is configured for a single domain only (your primary company domain, such as company.com).

If your email/authentication/Active Directory domains are different from your primary company domain, contact Ansys support.

  • As a best practice, Ansys strongly recommends that you create a new Azure subscription to ensure that permissions given to Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure to create resources are specific to this new subscription only.
