With a subscription-based licensing model, you pay to use an application for a specific amount of time (typically 12 months). If a new version becomes available during that time, you are free to download the new version and start using it without any additional upgrade cost.

Subscriptions are assigned to users who have Ansys Accounts (which are free for anyone to create). Each subscription is assigned to a specific user, but can be reassigned to a different user at any time.

If you have been assigned an Ansys Discovery subscription, you can activate it on two devices at the same time. Cloud Essentials subscriptions do not require activation, and can be used on any number of devices.
