Manually Activating Ansys Discovery Applications

If you are unable to activate an Ansys Discovery application by signing in, as described in Launching and Activating Ansys Discovery Applications, you can manually activate Ansys Discovery applications by following the steps below.

  1. Obtain the Activation ID for the subscription that you want to activate using one of the methods below.

    • If a subscription has been assigned to you, sign in to the Ansys Account portal at https://myaccount.ansys.com. On the My Subscriptions page, an Activation ID will be displayed for each assigned subscription.

    • If you are the primary Ansys Account administrator for your organization, locate the email that you received from the Ansys Account Team with the subject “New subscriptions are ready to be assigned”. This email has a text file attachment that contains activation IDs for the subscriptions that have been purchased.

    • If you are not the primary Ansys Account administrator, and for some reason are unable to sign in to the Ansys Account portal, you will need to obtain the activation ID from the person who received the email mentioned above.

  2. On the machine on which you want to activate Ansys Discovery applications, open a command window in the following Ansys installation folder:

    • Release 2021 R1 or later: \ANSYS Inc\vXXX\licensingclient\winx64

    • Release 2020 R2 or earlier: \ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\winx64

  3. Run the following command, replacing <ActivationID> with the activation ID obtained from the text file:

    ansysls_client.exe -ActivateLicenseEntitlement <ActivationID>
