Favorites

Favorite materials can be added to personal lists of records, allowing them to be accessed later. Favorites Lists can be published and made available to other users (for example, as an 'Approved Materials List').

These may be records that you work with frequently, or records used in a particular project, or with a particular set of properties. Favorites Lists can be personal, so only you can see them, or published, so all users can see them and subscribe to them.

Favorites Lists can include records from multiple tables and databases. It is important to note that the contents of Favorites Lists can be access-controlled, you will only see the records that you have permission to access.

You can access your personal Favorites Lists, and any lists you have subscribed to, from the following Granta MI applications:

  • Add records to your personal Favorites Lists.
  • Choose one or more Favorites Lists to use as filters when browsing and searching for records.
Note: You can't remove materials from a Favorites List in MI Explore. You must remove favorites in MI Favorites.

  • Choose a Favorites List as a filter when browsing for records.
MI Favorites
You can use MI Favorites to manage and subscribe to lists. Regardless of your role, you can:
  • View the contents of your personal Favorites Lists and any published lists.
  • Create, edit, and delete your own personal lists - add or remove records, or edit the list name, description, or notes.
  • See the change history for your lists.
  • Subscribe and unsubscribe from published lists.
  • Request publication of your personal lists.
  • Revise published lists that were created by you, and resubmit them for publication.
  • Request withdrawal of published lists that were created by you, and edit or delete them when they have been withdrawn.

Users with Favorites list management roles can approve the publication and withdrawal of lists, revise and manage lists created by other users, and view the list change history.

Users can be subscribed to all published Favorites Lists automatically via configuration options in MI Settings. If you have been automatically subscribed to all published lists, you will not be able to unsubscribe.

MI Materials Gateway
  • Work with Favorites Lists in the same way as in MI Explore and MI Favorites.
  • Assign or import records from Favorites Lists.
