Using materials assigned in NX by a CAD designer

When you import a part geometry from NX, any Granta materials that were assigned by the CAD designer in NX will be greyed-out. This indicates that the part geometry contains a reference a material that is not currently in HyperMesh.

To bring the data required for simulation into HyperMesh, you need to re-assign the material.

  1. Click the component to select it. You can hold down Ctrl or Shift to select more than one component, if you need to re-assign the same material to multiple components.
  2. Right-click the material name, and select Assign to selection.

The material data required for simulation is assigned to the component in HyperMesh.

All the materials that have been imported are displayed in the Imported material cards panel.
  • To see more information about a material, right-click it and select View datasheet.
  • To delete an imported material, right-click it and select Delete. This deletes the material from your model.
If a material is marked as missing , this means that it is no longer available in your Granta MI database.  Where possible, its name is shown to help you find a suitable replacement.

If material assignment is shown with the icon and its name is in greyed-out text, this means that the part geometry contains a reference to the material in your Granta MI Pro database, but the data is not currently in HyperMesh.
