To create a new material, click the button in the Object
creation toolbar. A new material will be created with the
default name material.n, where n is the next sequential number among numbered materials. The name
of the new material will appear under the Model node in the Model manager window (Figure 9.56: The Materials Node under the Model Node) and in
the Name text entry box in the Materials panel. See Editing an Existing Material for details
on renaming a material.
You can also create a new material in any panel that contains
a materials list. For example, the Walls panel
contains a list called the External material list.
To create a new material, open the External material list and select Create material. This will
open the Materials panel and create a material
called wall.1 ext_material
in this example.
You can rename and edit the material using the Materials panel. Click Done when you have finished editing
the material, and Ansys Icepak will close the Materials panel and return to the Walls panel.
Note: Any changes you make to the materials in the current project will be saved as part of the current project only. These changes will be available whenever you work on this project, but not for any other project. See Saving Materials and Properties for details on saving material properties to a library.
