Licensing for Air-Gapped Customers

After Ansys License Manager (ALM) is set up and the license made available, you can activate air-gapped licensing. Note that this feature is only available with Ansys System Engineering Server version 2024 R2.01 (SAM) or version 2025 R1 (DSM) or later.

Prerequisites:

ALM must be installed on the same network as the server. The server must be able to reach ALM.

In addition, the license must be available in the ALM. For guidance on how to install this license on ALM, contact your ACE representative.

To activate licensing for air-gapped customers, complete these steps.

  1. In the installation directory, in the compose.yml file, add the vendor-specific FlexNet environment variable ANSYSLMD_LICENSE_FILE.
  2. Set the variable to the port@host designation.
  3. Restart the server.
You can now invite users to join your System Engineering Server Portal organization. The steps are the same as for the Ansys medini analyze Real-Time Collaboration Server. For more information, see Adding Users for Ansys medini analyze Real-Time Collaboration Server.
Note: When air-gapped licensing is successfully configured, the option to sign in with an Ansys ID is automatically disabled on the System Engineering Server sign-in page. Users are therefore guided to always use their username and password to sign in.
