Chapter 5: About M2Doc Fields with no Output

During document generation, M2Doc interprets fields and replaces them with the defined values.

Generally, M2Doc fields are replaced with text or with pictures or diagrams. However, certain fields, such as comments or conditional statements, often have no output and so are replaced by nothing. This is how Microsoft Word handles empty lines:

  • Empty lines in text

Microsoft Word completely removes empty lines, unless leading or trailing spaces, bullets, or indentations are present. These are still displayed in the line.

  • Empty lines between tables

If two tables are separated by an empty line, when the line is removed during processing, the tables are joined into a single table. Each table retains its own column width formatting. To maintain a uniform look, make sure the tables have the same formatting. For example, after splitting a table, do not change the formatting in either table part.
