15.3. Import from Ansys System Architecture Modeler (SAM)

If you have created a SysML v2 model in Ansys System Architecture Modeler (SAM), you can easily import it into a safety project in Ansys medini analyze. Note that you need login access to the Ansys MBSE Portal server hosting your Ansys SAM project. For information about adding a server, see "Adding a Server to the Model Browser".

Note:  Redefinitions and subsettings are not considered during import. In addition, the import of standard libraries is not supported.

15.3.1. Before you begin

To import SAM projects, you first need to enable the feature in medini analyze. To do so, complete these steps.

  1. In medini analyze, navigate to Window > Preferences > Integration > SAM Importer.

  2. In the SAM Importer panel, select the Enable SAM Importer check box.

  3. Click the Apply and Close button.

Medini analyze can now import models from SAM.

15.3.2. Importing a Model from Ansys SAM

To import a SysML v2 model from Ansys SAM to a medini ansys safety project, complete these steps.

  1. Make sure you are connected to the server where the model is located.

  2. In the Model Browser, select a project and right-click the folder where you want to import the SysML v2 model, for example, a system design folder.

  3. Select Import > Model from System Architecture Modeler....

  4. In the Import Settings dialog, from the Authenticated Server drop-down, select the server where your SAM project is located.

Under SysML Models, all available SysML v2 projects are listed. The table also lists information about each project's organization space and visibility setting.

  5. Select a project.

  6. Optional. To import diagrams from the project, select the Import diagrams check box.

Note that diagrams are imported as read-only.

  7. Click Next.

The Result dialog tells you the import succeeded.

  8. Optional. Use the Back button to make any changes before completing the import.

  9. Click the Finish button.

The imported model appears in the folder you chose.

15.3.3. Updating the Imported SAM Model

After you import a model from Ansys SAM to the desktop client, you can continue to make changes to the model in SAM. You can then import the changes as an update to the model in the desktop client.

To update an Ansys SAM model in medini analyze, complete these steps.

  1. In the Model Browser, navigate to the project package that contains your imported model.

  2. Right-click in the package and select Update Model from SAM....

The update wizard guides you through the update.

The update wizard also provides a Force Update option to re-create deleted and changed elements in the imported copy. Note that existing additions to the imported model, such as failure modes or new diagrams, are preserved during an update.

15.3.4. Supported Concepts for SAM

Note that any concepts not listed are not imported.
