New FTA Algorithm

Release 2022 R2 comes with an new algorithm to solve fault trees faster by applying approximate computations. The fault tree solution can be truncated based on an order of cut sets, and all probability computations such as unavailability and unreliability are approximated with a high degree of accuracy. The new algorithm can be toggled on via an option in the preferences and can be used as an alternative to the existing algorithm.

CFT

Component Fault Trees (CFT) are now available as an extension to fault trees in Ansys medini analyze. For the 2022 R2 release, we provide a beta version of that feature, available as complementary installation. Please reach out to the Ansys team for more information about this extension.

Risk Time Model Improvement

The Risk Time probability model for basic events was adjusted. Risk times T_r which are less then the mission time are now considered conservatively with their peak when computing the average probability. Moreover, any T_r greater the mission time will behave consistently with averaging probabilities independent of the kind set (i.e. Average Flight Time or Specific Time).
