33.1. FMEDA Improvements

New DC Worksheet options

SysML models can be structured by containment, which is a challenge for the flat structure of an FMEDA/SPF and LF metric analysis. For example, a BOM might be contained in a PCB model that defines the circuits in a hierarchical manner or a chip design could contain multiple levels of parts, sub-parts, sub-sub-parts, etc.

The FMEDA/DC Worksheet provides a new option to select the corresponding level. In addition, we've added filtering of ports and transient failures from the SPF/LF metrics for a more convenient model/worksheet interaction.

Separate SPF/LF for transient failures

The separate analysis of permanent and transient failure modes is now better supported by distinguishing also the DC values for the different failure types at safety mechanisms.

SM Coverage Analysis

The FMEDA/SPF and LF metrics analysis provides a quantitative assessment on the diagnostics of a design. While the analysis uses safety mechanisms (SMs), often one is interested in a detailed evaluation on how important an SM is in relation to others. Version 19.2 introduces a new "Coverage Analysis" table that lists the SMs applied within an analysis and provides some statistics such as the number failure modes or failure rate covered.
