Introduction

Ansys HPC Platform Services is a set of technology components designed to help you manage the execution of simulations while making use of your full range of compute resources. Together, these components form a framework for executing HPC workflows with ease and efficiency.

Your compute resources may be:

  • On-premises workstations

  • Virtual machines in a cloud environment

  • On-premises HPC cluster (Slurm, LSF, PBS, UGE, AWS ParallelCluster, Kubernetes)

Your simulations can be automated as one or more tasks, such as geometry updates, meshing operations, solver runs, postprocessing evaluations, and custom scripts. Each task has its own software and hardware requirements defined.

The mission of Ansys HPC Platform Services is to match task requirements with compute resources, relieving you of having to choose a suitable and available resource for each job and allowing efficient reuse of resources in a multi-user environment.

Ansys HPC Manager

In addition to a fully featured REST API, Ansys HPC Platform Services provides a browser-friendly Ansys HPC Manager web app in which you can:

  • Create simulation projects that define solve jobs

  • Adjust any software and hardware requirements

  • Keep track of submission status

  • Monitor execution progress

  • Download result files

  • Review output parameters

Whether your project comprises a single task, such as a batch solver run, or multiple tasks for design exploration or optimization, the Ansys HPC Manager is central. For more information, see Ansys HPC Manager Web App.

Integration with Ansys Applications

Ansys applications such as Workbench, Mechanical, and Electronics Desktop have built-in support for Ansys HPC Platform Services, enabling you to submit solutions and updates to the Ansys HPC Manager directly from the application.

Ansys HPC Platform Services is available for installation on virtual machines in Ansys Access on Microsoft Azure and Ansys Gateway powered by AWS, providing job management capabilities for HPS-supported workflows, such as those for Ansys Electronics Desktop, Mechanical, and Workbench LS-DYNA.

Ansys HPC Platform Services is also used to manage Ansys Cloud Burst Compute jobs submitted from Ansys applications such as Electronics Desktop, Fluent, and Mechanical, providing integration with Ansys Cloud and enabling jobs to be monitored in Ansys Engineering Portal.
