The Polyflow workspace is a means to explore manufacturing applications of highly viscous materials such as polymer extrusion, blow molding, fiber spinning, etc. within the Fluent environment. Many of the models and concepts in this workspace are based on Polyflow Classic, details of which can be found in the Polyflow Classic documentation (Polyflow Classic User's Guide in the Polyflow Classic User's Guide). The Polyflow workspace is a finite-element program primarily designed for the analysis of industrial flow processes dominated by nonlinear viscous phenomena and viscoelastic effects under various conditions. The work environment provides easy access to most of the features available in Polyflow Classic software of which it is the successor. The Polyflow workspace is used in a wide variety of applications, including polymer and rubber processing, food rheology, glass pressing, and many other cases involving the flow of non-Newtonian fluids. These several applications, steady or transient, are essentially described by means of appropriate geometry, material models and suitable boundary conditions, and can be combined with thermal effects.
The following Polyflow analysis system is available in Workbench:
Polyflow : Provides the full simulation capabilities of Polyflow.
To work through a Polyflow system:
Drag the Polyflow system from the Toolbox to the Project Schematic or double-click the system in the Toolbox.
To import a mesh file, right-click the Setup cell and select from the context menu.
To import a case file, right-click the Setup cell and select from the context menu. With this command, only the setup will be loaded.
To import a case with results file, right-click the Setup cell and select from the context menu. With this command, the setup and results will be loaded.
To import a file, right-click the Setup cell and select from the context menu. The file is loaded in the user_files directory located at the top level of the project.
To define your preferences for Polyflow setup, right-click the Setup cell and select from the context menu.
To open Polyflow, double-click the Setup cell. In Polyflow, you can specify the computational models, materials, boundary conditions, and solution parameters.
To define your preferences for Polyflow solution, right-click the Solution cell and select from the context menu.
To run the Polyflow calculation, right-click the Solution cell and select from the context menu.
To open the transcript file containing the summary of what the Polyflow solver is doing or has done, right-click the Solution cell and select from the context menu.
For detailed information on working with Polyflow, see the online documentation available under the menu within Polyflow. In addition, see Polyflow Workspace in the Fluent Workspaces User's Guide.
