7.1. Set Up

To set up the Mechanical APDL for Arm, perform the following steps:

  1. Visit the Ansys Download Center and, under the Select Operating System dropdown, select Linux AArch64 (ARM64).

  2. Download the Mechanical APDL package.

  3. Install the Mechanical APDL package:

    1. Extract the package contents using the following command:

      tar xf MECHANICALAPDL_2026R1_BETA_LNARM64.tgz

    2. Run the installer from the extracted directory using the following command and then follow the prompts:

      sh <installer_script>

    Note:  It is recommended that you use one of the following on Arm:

    • Rocky Linux 8.9*

    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.8* / 9.3*

    (*) Prerequisites: libICE, libnsl2, libSM, pcre2-utf16.

  4. Set up the environment.
