Additive Manufacturing Documentation

The manuals listed below form the Additive Manufacturing product documentation set.

Additive Manufacturing Release Notes - Provides access to the release notes.
Powder Bed Fusion Simulation Guide - User's guide for performing powder bed fusion (PBF) simulations in Ansys Workbench/Mechanical (Additive Suite license required). PBF is an additive manufacturing process in which a thin layer of metal powder is deposited and a highly focused laser (L-PBF) or electron beam (E-PBF) of energy is moved over its surface in order to melt the metal powder composing the current cross section and fuse it to the preceding layer. A solid part emerges as successive layers are deposited and processed.
Laser Powder Bed Fusion Calibration Guide - Includes instructions for performing a calibration for the Mechanical application so that Laser Powder Bed Fusion simulations are more accurate. Calibration ensures accurate accounting for the differences between measured and simulated deformation.
Directed Energy Deposition Simulation Guide - Describes how to perform a DED Process simulation using the DED Process Add-on in Mechanical. Directed energy deposition is an additive manufacturing process in which a laser or electron beam creates a melt pool on previously solidified material where blown powder or fed wire is introduced to add material.
Sintering Simulation Guide - Describes how to perform a sintering simulation using the Sintering Process Add-on in the Mechanical application.
Sintering Calibration Guide - Provides guidelines for collecting experimental data and calibrating a sintering material.
Distortion Compensation Guide - Guide for using the Distortion Compensation Add-on, which automatically iterates through solutions and generates an optimized compensation geometry so that after loading or processing, a geometry deforms to within the desired tolerance range. Use the Distortion Compensation Add-on for L-PBF and sintering simulations.
