Reinforcing elements add stiffness and strength to a base solid mesh. The approach was first developed to simulate structures such as tires and reinforced concrete, where the reinforcement is meshed independently of the base solid. The method has since been extended to support layered composite modeling. In ACP, the Imported Solid Model feature provides an accessible interface for building complex reinforced composite structures, including jet-engine fan blades and T-joints.
This section presents two detailed examples:
T-Joint Example: Demonstrates the standard workflow for building a layered 3D composite structure using reinforcing elements.
Fan-Blade Example: Demonstrates how reinforcing elements integrate with Imported Plies that originate from CAD surfaces rather than reference surfaces.
