Run setup.exe (Windows) or INSTALL (Linux) from ansyslocalhelp/<platform>.
Follow the on-screen prompts. Be sure that “Ansys, Inc. Documentation Only” is selected on the product selection screen.
Run the applicable configuration, if necessary:
Windows
If you install the documentation to the same directory as your product installation, or if you install the documentation on a machine with no product installation, you can now run the help normally. No further configuration is needed.
If you have an existing installation but install the documentation to a directory other than the product installation, or if the user account used to install the local help is not the end user:
Choose .
Select the option.
Click and locate the directory where you installed the help files (Example: C:\Local doc\ANSYS Inc\v2523\commonfiles\help).
Click . The message “Help files found. Click Save to use these files.” is displayed.
Click . You can now run the help normally.
If multiple users are accessing the help, each user must perform the steps above.
Linux
If you install the documentation to the same directory as your product installation, or if you install the documentation on a machine with no product installation, you can now run the help normally by issuing following command from the directory. No further configuration is needed.
Tools/mono/Linux64/bin/mono commonfiles/help/HelpViewer/ANSYSHelpViewer.exe
Note: If multiple users are accessing the help, each additional user must point to the help installation directory by performing the steps described below.
If you have an existing installation but install the documentation to a directory other than the product installation, or if the user account used to install the local help is not the end user:
Issue the following command from the directory to configure the new help location:
Tools/mono/Linux64/bin/mono commonfiles/help/HelpViewer/ANSYSHelpConfigurationTool.exe
Select the option.
Enter the directory where you installed the help files (Example: /Local doc/ANSYS Inc/v2523/commonfiles/help). The message “Help files found. Click Save to use these files.” is displayed.
Click . You can now run the help normally by issuing following command from the directory:
Tools/mono/Linux64/bin/mono commonfiles/help/HelpViewer/ANSYSHelpViewer.exe
