Chapter 6: Contacts for Implicit Analyses

Contacts can be categorized as follows:

  • Sliding contacts, which allow movements between parts in a FE-model, without the parts intersecting each other (see Sliding Interface Contact), or

  • Tied contacts, which couple parts together with a constant distance (see Tied Contacts).

For a general overview of contact definitions in LS-DYNA, the course "Contacts in LS-DYNA" (or similar) is recommended. See the Webinar in [40] for an overview of contacts for implicit analyses.
