The following procedures explain how to create a terrain in AVSimulation SCANeR™, then
export it in a file format compatible with AVxcelerate Asset Preparation.
Creating a Terrain
This procedure explains how to create a terrain to be used in the SCANeR scenario.
Open AVSimulation SCANeR™ and select the TERRAIN mode.
Click New.
In the terrain editor, create a terrain:
Create the road network thanks to the different functions provided with the
Axis Workroom.
Design the network thanks to the Network Workroom.
Modify or create new road profile thanks to the Profile
Workroom.
Note: For 3D components found in large numbers, such as buildings, trees and street
lights, there are 2 possibilities:
for better performance, it is highly recommended to add them directly in the
terrain,
if you want to benefit from the AVX counterpart
static assets tagged and enhanced with physical properties, which are delivered in
the AVxcelerate Sensors Library for SCANeR, you can add 3D components to the
SCANeR scenario as standalone objects. However,
doing so reduces the performance since standalone objects are instantiated at AVX simulation runtime.
Note: Refer to the AVSimulation SCANeR™ User's Guide for further
information on how to create a terrain.
Click File > Save As.
Select the Native Files type and click
Save.
The terrain is created and ready to be used in a SCANeR
scenario.
Exporting a Terrain
This procedure explains how to export a terrain created in SCANeR
in a file format compatible with AVxcelerate Asset Preparation.
In AVSimulation SCANeR™, open a terrain.
In the main ribbon, select FILE > Export 3D Visual.
Name your file and select an import file format compatible with AVxcelerate Asset Preparation.
The 3D file Export options window opens.
In the 3D file Export options window, if you added 3D components and want to recover
them in AVxcelerate Asset Preparation to apply physics properties, check 3D
Objects.
